Sample questions people ask

My gas fireplace won't stay lit — what should I check first?

Most often it's a worn thermocouple or thermopile, a pilot that's out of adjustment, or blocked venting. Turn the control off rather than retrying the pilot over and over, and we'll check the pilot, sensor, gas pressure and venting during the inspection.

How do I know if my mortar needs tuckpointing?

If mortar crumbles out when you scratch it with a key, if you see cracks or gaps in the joints, or if water is coming through, the joints are failing. We fill all gaps, cracks, and holes and rebuild the joints so the wall regains its strength.

How often should a gas fireplace be inspected?

Once a year, before the burning season. We check the burner, logs, venting, pilot and glass, test for carbon monoxide risks, then tune it up so it burns cleanly, efficiently and safely.

Can you fix a chimney that's leaning or has loose bricks?

Yes. All brick or stone structures can be repaired — we make sure it looks new again and regains its structural integrity. Loose or moving bricks are a call-now job: keep people clear of the area and ring us.
